  • Subject area
  • Target group

All print resources uploaded to LeMill will be under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license.

Text used in the prototype: "The uploaded print resource will be published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike? 2.5 license. Please do not upload resources that are released under a different license.".

Change History

In general I agree with the idea of book.

I am not sure about the second page with “add reference” and “add school book” options.

  • Do we also include icons for these options? Then it would look very similar to the first page.
  • Is it possible that in the future we will add more content types to that page (reference, book, …). I can’t think anything else now, that can’t be implemented as collaboratively edited learning resource.
  • If we do not plan to add anything there, maybe it is better to make icons smaller and fit 4 options on that page (and make icons smaller also on page where we list learning resource templates)

I am fine with 4 options in one page. Please, decide this Hans.

I would also go with 4 options on one page.

Hans, can you re-edit this story to match what we want to do?

  • Priority changed from minor to critical

I think it is an important feature but I am not sure how to call this content type. Calling it a book may be confusing when we have implemented "Collections-to-PDF" (#1632) and "Collection from collections" (#1677). At some point I was thinking about calling it a "Print resource".

"Print resource" has a wider meaning than a book. I hope that it will encourage people to share also other type of content as PDF files (brochures, posters, etc). On the other hand it will also guide people to share worksheets made in Word if they manage out how to convert Word documents to PDF. I am not sure if it is good or bad. In a way it is bad because we might get a lot of content that can't be edited in LeMill.

I think that PDF files uploaded to LeMill must be only under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike? license. Then other people can transfer good content to Web page or Exercise templates (those PDF worksheets that we might get).

  • Summary changed from New content type: book to Print resources
  • Description modified (diff)
  • Milestone set to 2.6

Replying to teemu:

It should be possible for the users / content provider to add “books” to the LeMill system.

The book is something like a “full school book” in a PDF-format. For an example see the science texts at: http://www.fhsst.org/

Because of having more content types the UI of the add new content (http://lemill.net/content/lemill_content_add) should be divided to two pages:

1) the first page (http://lemill.net/content/lemill_content_add) should show: New learning resource... and Add media piece... + link: More types of content (add reference, add school book)

2) The second page should contain the “add reference” and “add school book” options.

The school book add view should offer a possibility to upload PDF and give metadata (same as in the case of “reference”.
