Description (last modified by hans) (diff)

Redesign of collection page:

  • Add word "Collection:" to the title
  • Rename "Description" to "Learning story"
  • Content, methods and tools are displayed in separate tables
  • Methods and tools are in alphabetical order
  • Owner of the collection can reorder content and remove content/methods/tools from the collection (these buttons are not displayed for other users)

Prototype:

http://lemill.org/trac/attachment/ticket/1153/collection.png?format=raw

If there is no learning story yet we should display the following text for the owner of the collection:

<h2>Learning story</h2>

<p>You have not written a learning story about this collection yet.
If you have used these resources in a learning session you can share
your experiences by <a href="">writing a learning story</a>.</p>

Link "writing a learning story" points to "Edit collection" page.

HTML code of the table:

<table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="0">
	<tr>
		<td class="coverimage_cell_small"><img src="http://lemill.net/content/media-computer-from-math-to-augmentation/coverImage" alt="Media Computer - From Math to Augmentation" class="coverimage_small" /></td>
		<td><a href="http://lemill.net/content/media-computer-from-math-to-augmentation/view">Media Computer - From Math to Augmentation</a></td>
		<td class="button_cell"><a href=""><img src="button_move_up.png" alt="Move up" /></a></td>
		<td class="button_cell"><a href=""><img src="button_move_down.png" alt="Move down" /></a></td>
		<td class="button_cell"><a href=""><img src="button_remove.png" alt="Remove from collection" /></a></td>
	</tr>
</table>

Table for methods and tools is basically the same, but it has two colums less (no buttons for changing the order of resources).

CSS code:

.coverimage_small {
	height: 30px;
	}

.coverimage_cell_small {
	text-align: center;
	width: 50px;
	}

.button_cell {
	width: 20px;
	}

Buttons used in the prototype are attached to the ticket.

I'll implement this in such way that only creator of collection can edit it. These are, after all your collections and our interfaces are such that you can only add stuff into your collections. This aspect still needs some thought; stories could become more static, restricted and 'dead' than other content in LeMill. Should we allow commenting for stories like we allow for blogposts?

Please, note the renaming of the "learning story" to "teaching and learning story". Ticket: #1160

Hans, are you sure if the "teaching and learning story" should be in the top of the page or only after the table of content and the objectives? I think, that in a daily use it would be better if the content, method and tools are in top of the page, so that you could for instance send the link of the page for your students and use it as a "table of content" of your "course".

If the "description" of how these objects is in the top this becomes the major thing in the page and not the resources.

I am proposing that we will locate the "teaching and learning story" title and the text after the list of content, methods and tools.

What should be in the portlets?

Currently there are two links that are only visible if you are the creator of the collection / allowed to edit:

  • Edit collection...
  • Delete collection

If you're not allowed to edit there is nothing. There is a problem with navigation here. 1) only url shows whose collection this is. 2) No way back to your page / other peoples memberpage.

I'm going to put member image to coverimage slot in portlet and make that link to collections owner. Say if this is bad.

To Teemu: yes, for daily use it is better to have learning story at the bottom after the resources...

To Jukka: I would also put member photo there...
