Description (last modified by hans) (diff)

The resources are showed in a list in the following way:

  • default image (160x120px) on the left
  • text on the right

Text includes the following metadata:

  • title (hyperlink to view a more detailed metadata about the resource)
  • name of the author or group
  • tags (hyperlinks to resources with same tags)
  • language (hyperlink to resources in same language)
  • icon showing the location of the resource (local toolbox or other server)

If a user moves mouse over the image of the resource, the image is changed to show the photo of the author (or group) of the resource (Javascript mouseover).

Open questions: where to show the color that indicates the type of the resource

Probably if the resource is highlighted (in the section's front page) just the image is showing, and next to it (under it?) is some editorial text. But otherwise same stuff.

Should the text part be to the right or under the image? If browsing results are shown as a thumbnail view, then perhaps the text should be placed under each image?

A general note: As comments are made, the actual body of the ticket should be edited as the design is changed. The body of the ticket will be the specification for further work, not the comments.

Resources are showed in the list. Is it a simple list (without categorisation)?

Based on story 29 browsing categories are:

  • subject
  • language (OK)
  • age
  • tags (OK).

Should the text in the next of image contain also subject and age information?

Can we use more interesting interface instead of simple list? For example hyperbolic tree. An interesting example is in www.inxight.com/VizServerDemos/demo/nasa/index.html. In this view all resources can be showed in same window (no scrollbar is needed). The nodes in tree can be titles of materials or not default images. When user moves mouse over the resource name, the list of additional information will displayed (Image, Title, Author (name and photo), Subject, Language, Age, Location, Tags). User can click on image and open the content. By clicking on Author ...

Or UI must be as simple as possible?

I guess we'll start with a list without categorization. Of course the list may only show a certain category, but the list itself just shows stuff. But it's not a boring list, I think, since it is more like an icon view.

The hyperbolic tree might be interesting, but requires a plugin to use. Can't use that.
