Description

When learning resources (material, activities, tools) are created, they are initially in draft state. The creator of the resource can at any time choose to publish the resource. Here are the ways draft is different from published:

  • author list is not shown
  • draft state is shown prominently
  • no possibility to translate or copy&edit

Currently we have a problem that publishing is not a part of normal workflow:

  • User writes the text and cliks Save
  • In a second page user adds some metadata and cliks Save

Content is created in draft status. User can go wherever. If she doesn't know anything about draft/published, then the content will remain in draft status.

Wordpress has 3 buttons instead of Save:

  • Save as draft
  • Save as private
  • Publish

I suggest the following solution:

  • forms that are divided to several pages should have Continue button instead of Save button, if there are more pages coming
  • final page of the form should have Save as draft and Publish buttons instead of Save button

What do you think? Could we move these two rules to HumanInterfaceGuidelines page?
