Description

Users with Symbian mobile phone may download “LeMill uploader” -software on their mobile phone. Le Mill uploader will make it possible to add pieces to the LeMill with just one click.

To make the LeMill uploader client (Symbian) we may use the Meaning-Merkitys (http://meaning.3xi.org/) software as a starting point. Meaning-Merkitys is open source. Source code in the site.

By default the Merkitys–Meaning uploads to flickr photo service, but one can use it with other servers, as well. We should modify the source code so that the default in our version will be LeMill and then include a version of it for download to the LeMill site.

With your Symbian phone you can record audio, capture pictures / vide clips and write texts. With the “LeMill uploader” software you can upload this media to the LeMill where they are then shown as “pieces”.

Last year, i wrote some simple java application for my mobile phone, but i newer develop to Symbian platform. Anyway, the idea is very hot, it would be very nice, if we managed to do this for the next release.

Please, have a look of the Python for Nokia's Series 60 tutorial at: http://www.mobilenin.com/pys60/menu.htm As you already know Python this could be one solution.

This could also be done in Java as a Midlet applet. László, would you guys in Hungary want to do this in Java?

comment:9 Changed 13 years ago by laszlo

I will look after, how could we implement this in J2ME.

Lazlo. Great! This will be really nice.

I have looked after the J2ME implementation of this Story. Java enabled mobile phones can take pictures, and record voice, if their support MMAPI. Many type of mobile phones (Nokia, Siemens, Sony Ericson, ...) support this thechnology, for this reason the MIDP solution songs good. I will try to get a mobile phone, which supports MMAPI to test this feature. If this solution is really working, we can create the developement tickets.
