Description

David Groos from the US pointed out that at least there, teachers are accountable to make sure that certain national and state level defined knowledge outcomes have been achieved during their courses.

Here's an example of scientific knowledge outcomes (called benchmarks in the document) http://www.project2061.org/publications/bsl/online/bolintro.htm

Most likely also EU nations have their own requirements, and maybe WP1 already knows something about them, and maybe mapping them across nations. Maybe something worth looking at?

Here's what David says: "There is another component that I haven't seen described yet. This would be very important for those who like to do 'backwards planning'--start from the declarative, procedural and contextual knowledge, then figure assessments/activities/lessons from there. Is there some way that a person could input a pre-defined set of 'Standards' as we call them in the US. I'm not sure how you folks do it in Finland, we have a very helpful list of aims for our science classes. There is a national set which are rather excellent though most states have their own which are invariably inferior but often required."

I am not against this idea but I would consider implementing this only when the system is already working fine. At the moment we much more important things to do.

We should discuss it with WP1 when we meet in Poland.

At least I would not use the concept of "knowledge outcomes".

However, I would propose "objectives" field to the stories. People may then write in it "knwledge outcomes" or more "open objectives".
