Installing with automated Installer

  1. Download Plone Windows installer (for versions 2.5, 2.5.1, 2.5.2, 2.5.3) from http://plone.org/products/plone/releases
  2. Install (provide administrative user name and password)
  3. Download latest version of LeMill from http://lemill.org/trac/wiki/Download
  4. Go to directory where Plone was installed (default is C:\Program Files\Plone 2)
    1. Go to Data\Products folder
    2. Add a folder with LeMill code here (folder name should be LeMill, everything is provided inside the archive you have just downloaded)
  5. Go to Programs menu and choose Plone -> Plone
    1. Now you should see Plone Controller window (you do not have to change anything)
    2. Just click the Start button
  6. Once you have started your Plone two links situated below the Start button in Plone Controller window will become active (View Plone and Zope Management Interface)
    1. Go to the Zope Management Interface (ZMI)
    2. Entered the Administrator name and password, you should see the ZMI
    3. By default one Plone portal has already been created, so we will use this one and just transform it into a portal using LeMill policy
    4. On the left click the Plone link. Now the content in the middle of the browser window has changed.
    5. Scroll down and find portal_migration, click it
    6. Click the Setup tab at the top of the browser window
    7. Search for heading Customization Policy Setup and click the checkbox in front of LeMill Site
    8. As soon as you are ready just click the Update button
    9. You should see some new screen now in the middle
  7. Just click on the Root Folder link at the top left and the previous content should be back.
  8. Now you should just get back to the Plone Controller window (the same one we used to get to the Zope Management Interface)
  9. Now click the View Plone button and it's all done.

Another way

There is also one more way to create LeMill portal

Since this installer wants a portal named Plone to always be present, we can create our LeMill portal in a bit different way.

You should complete the previous tutorial till 6.3

  1. In the middle of the screen we just click the checkbox in front of the object named Plone - that is the default portal and click the button Delete (buttons at the bottom)
  2. As soon as the old portal is deleted - we create a new one to replace it
  3. From dropdown menu Select type to add... we select Plone Site (top left of the browser window)
  4. Now we have to provide some info. Id should be Plone (as the old portal had; does not have to be that way in case of installing Zope and just adding Plone and LeMill into the Products folder); you can also provide the Title and Description
  5. Do not forget to select LeMill Site from Extension Profiles (this will create you a LeMill portal)
  6. Now just click Add Plone Site button (wait while the portal is created)
  7. Now you can use the View Plone button from the Plone Controller Window to get to the portal.

Now you might want to configure your LeMill portal a bit. Click on your user name on the right top and then Manage this site and provide some settings for your portal to be able to use all the features (Mail Settings; some general administrator address in Portal Settings).
